Q.) My cousin lives in a small city of USA. He is a doctor and married. He unfortunately missed three consecutive Jummuah Prayers because of his job as he was on duty .There is a Mosque in his city and there Jummuah prayer is conducted regularly. I heard that if a Muslim without any excuse missed three consecutive Jummuah prayers than he has to do "Tajdeed-e-Iman" and if he is married he has to revive his Nikkah.

1- He could not offer Jummuah prayer because of his job; is this a valid excuse for him? In a case where there is a Mosque in his city where Jummuah is conducted regularly.

2- What should he do now? [Syed Rahim]

A.) Nabi Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned, 'He who misses three Jumu'ah prayers without any excuse, Allah will put a seal in his heart.' (Haakim and Ahmad)

In view of the above Hadith, one can view the severity of missing Jumu'ah Salat. However, one will not be excluded from the fold of Islam for missing 3 Jumu'ahs and the context of work is not a valid excuse. Hence, he should make excessive Istighfaar, perform Qadhaa (makeup for missed prayers) and adopt means through asking for leave, etc. to be present for his Jumu'ah Salat.

And Allah Ta'ala Knows Best
