Was Adam a Prophet?

By Mufti Shafiq Jakhura and Mufti M.D. Mangera

Q. Is there any reference from Holy Qur'an and/or Authentic ahadith or tafseer that Adam Alaihis-Salam was indeed a prophet of Allah?

A.Adam (Alaihis Salaam) was a Prophet of Allah. This has been mentioned in the ahadith. See Arabic Text of a part of a narration from Tirmidhi Shareef:

This has been mentioned clearly in other ahadith as well. (See Musnad Ahmad)

And Allah Ta'ala Knows Best
