Offering Salat on a Plane

By Mufti Ebrahim Desai

Q.) Please specify the Shariah hukm, with regards to praying salat while being on an aircraft journey? [Sarfraz]

A.) As far as possible, you should perform Salat on the ground. However, if you fear missing the Salat (becoming Qadha), you should perform it on the plane. Enquire from the flight attendants the direction of the Qibla.

There is no difference in performing Salat on ground and in air (plane). However, in order to avoid inconvenience to anyone on the flight, you should make arrangements with the flight attendants. And Allah Ta'ala Knows Best.
